Tucker Christensen is a Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate (LMHCA) at The Couch in Spokane Valley, WA, working under the supervision of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Sara Yarbrough (LMFT #LF61341382). He holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Gonzaga University, and is Gottman Method trained for couples work.
Tucker works with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, addiction recovery, and major life transitions. He has a particular passion for working with couples who are finding their footing, whether that means managing anxiety, building communication skills in a relationship, or learning to understand their own patterns for the first time.
His approach is client-centered at its core. He uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients build practical tools they can actually use between sessions. Tucker brings warmth and real presence into every session, and meets clients where they are, not where he thinks they should be.
Tucker is currently accepting new clients at The Couch in Spokane Valley, WA, and is a great fit for couples in communication breakdown, young adults working through anxiety or depression, and anyone who needs both a steady listener and someone willing to help them move forward.

What working with Tucker actually looks like.
HIS APPROACH
Tucker is a listener first. He reflects, asks good questions, and takes time to understand your world before offering tools or challenges. When the time is right, he brings in practical skills and psychoeducation, and gently pushes when that's what growth requires.
He thinks of the therapy process a little like a pilgrimage. The path isn't always smooth, and there are stretches that feel hard or disorienting. But you're not walking it alone. Tucker sees his role as the steady presence beside you for the real, hard parts of the journey.
A good session, even a difficult one, involves vulnerability and honesty. Tucker believes those moments, when something real gets said out loud, are often where the most meaningful progress lives.
When things get hard in session, whether someone shuts down, gets angry, or wants to quit, Tucker doesn't flinch. He wants clients to know he can handle whatever they bring in. He's there for it.
By the end of your work together, Tucker hopes you feel listened to, understood, encouraged, and better than when you came in.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Helps couples identify and shift the underlying emotional patterns that drive conflict and disconnection.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Research-based tools for communication, trust-building, and managing conflict in lasting, healthy ways.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Rather than dwelling on what's wrong, SFBT zeroes in on what's already working, helping you identify your own strengths and build practical, forward-focused solutions that create real change, faster.
